Let's be honest: am I some chick in the sticks trying to make a buck off her gear?

Maybe.

But also... I have a lot of gear. Like, an alarming amount. My tiny home in Alaska is slowly being overtaken by tents, backpacks, boots, stoves, dry bags, and whatever else REI tricked me into thinking was essential. I’ve reached the point where sleeping inches away from a buddy heater while it's 20 below feels normal. Ask my cat.. he's singed a few whiskers.

This all started after a spontaneous trip to see the Northern Lights. Just before the plane started descending into Alaska, I fell hard. Not just for the lights, but for the mountains, the ocean, the community, and let’s not forget the moose traffic jams. I went home, packed up my life (and my absurd gear collection), and moved here.

Now, fast-forward: I’ve accumulated even more stuff (sorry, square footage), and I’ve realized something wild: outdoor gear is expensive, especially if you’re just visiting. Family and friends who come up to explore always ask me, “How do I pack all this gear back home if I buy it? And where do I even get it?” One friend almost gave up exploring the rivers and lakes just to avoid figuring out how to fit Xtratuf boots in a carry-on.

That’s when it hit me:

Why not rent out my gear?

It’s better than hoarding it. It helps travelers save money. And honestly? It gives my stuff the adventure it was meant for instead of collecting dust under my bed while I obsess over my new DIY garden (though it's pretty awesome).
